Pacha in Ibiza – Roger Sanchez’s Release Yourself. I remember it was an 8 hour set!
Today is a very special day. Today my husband, Nikhil sets out on a whole new adventure and I want to wish him all the best for it.
I’m not sure how we found ourselves travelling from clubs and festivals to the High Court but I’ll try and make some sense of it in the coming years. Hopefully, at least one person, if not the scene as a whole, will be able to benefit from our journey and recent experiences.
All that is in the past now and today is a whole new day. What is important is that we’re back on the sands, where we belong. Back amongst all of you, the only place we have ever wanted to be. With our friends… sharing music.
Fire dancers after sunset at Café Del Mar.
All of you have been part of our journey for fifteen odd years now and there is little that we haven’t shared together. Yet, while leafing through some pictures I realized it’s important to let you into this other world of ours as well. This world that only Nikhil and I have been privy to so far. It might help us all understand what led us here.
Far from mainstream attention, inside the dim walls of clubs, at free parties in Zanzibar and in the private recesses of our forum, our story unfolded. You were an intrinsic part of it and still remain so. I can’t imagine not sharing this current phase with you, as well.
I will take you through every aspect of our industry, the scene and this journey. Gradually though.. Today, I just want to celebrate this new chapter.
These pictures were taken at one of the many festivals and clubs we went to together, in the early 2000’s.
These pictures are for Nikhil since I can’t be with him today. These pictures are for all our friends who continue to write our story with us.
Thank you.
Now if only I could set this note to music.. ?
