Making ABGT200 happen

It’s been hard to put into words, what it feels like, having hosted the very first ABGT001 in Bangalore,  I’m finally getting to watch another milestone episode of ABGT. Now that the news is out, I’d like to share with you how it all came together.

Ever since we did the first ABGT in Bangalore, I’ve been wanting to go back for each of their milestone shows. Unfortunately, I couldn’t make it to ABGT50, ABGT100 or ABGT150 and was quite determined to make ABGT200 happen.

It all started with a call to James (A&B’s Manager) who has become part of the Submerge family now. I asked if there was a possibility for Submerge to bring down two Indian fans to watch this show with me. (Remember, this is for an event that had already sold out tickets at the time of the conversation, so calling it a favour would be putting it mildly). James was thrilled at the idea since  entire Above & Beyond crew have a lot of love for India. He even agreed to put these two fans on Above & Beyond’s personal guestlist, which incidentally, if you haven’t figured are the two tickets up for grabs. It came down to figuring out how we pick these two people and we mutually agreed that a contest was probably the best way for the Submerge crew to identify these two fans who will then get to fly to Amsterdam with me.

Why it’s not just another contest?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again – ABGT001 was the best show I’ve ever been a part of. I’ve toured Swedish House Mafia, Tiesto and host of other artists but none of those compared to what we felt at the end of ABGT001. People didn’t come up to me and say ‘You killed it bro’ or ‘That gig totally rocked man’. People came up to with a smile and often a tear and just said ‘Thank you’. People who were there for ABGT001 will testify to what I’m saying.

I have no doubts that ABGT200 is going to be etched in my memory much like ABGT001.

We’re running the contest for the next few days and really want you all to participate. The link to the registration page is below and I’d highly recommend you head there now and get your entries in.

I’m leaving you with a note I wrote in 2013 about why I wear the wristband from ABGT001. All of it still holds true and you’ll see what I mean when I say if the wristband’s not off, the gig’s not over.
